Gr 3/4 Awesome Excursion

MCG - The Hallowed Turf.

National Sports Museum

On Friday 11th May we were so lucky – we went to the National Sports Museum in Melbourne. We are starting to learn about the Olympics in Inquiry Learning. We had a ‘Talk with an Olympian’ her name was Stephanie Moorhouse. She is a past gymnast and she won a world championship gold medal at age 15. She spoke very well and showed us her costumes. We went to ‘Game ON’ where we played all types of sporting games. It was really fun. We split into groups and had a tour of the MCG – behind the scenes. Our tour guide took us to the changerooms, player meeting rooms, The Long Room in the MCC and onto the hallowed turf. Last of all we went to The State Library. It was an awesome building. Senior Cross Country 2012

Last Friday Epsom PS hosted their Senior Cross Country. The fundraising committee bought us a huge red shelter for the timekeepers. We will be able to use it again and again and again. We trained everyday leading up to last Friday and although we were fit we still got puffed out. Now that Cross Country is over we need to still keep training for Zone Cross Country at the racecourse.

Does your school have a Cross Country?

The chicks have arrived!

We have six new chicks who hatched in our incubator on Sunday and Monday morning. WOW – it was so exciting. Poor Mrs Davey was away for the day but she heard the news via our class blog because there were forty-two comments just in the morning! All the chicks are the same color this time and are now in the heat box and growing stronger each day with food, water and heat.

What have you learnt from hatching chicks?

Can you think of a ‘c’ name for our chicks? We have Cosmo, Chickee Dee and Caramel so far.

Vixens Netball Team Visit.

We have been so spoilt with our sport and visitors lately. On Friday Julie Corletto and Geva Mentor visited our school ahead of their match against the Adelaide Thunderbirds as a warm up for the start of the Trans Tasman Trophy starting next weekend. They play for the Melbourne Vixens and conducted clinics, signed autographs and answered questions. They were such lovely ladies but quite obviously dedicated to their chosen sport.

What did you learn from the visit?

Do you play netball?

Chicks

Guess what? We are so lucky to learn at Epsom PS because we are hatching little fluffy, cuddly chicks again! This is our third year and we are really hoping for some girls this time. Last year we hatched too many roosters and we are not allowed to keep them under council law. Here is a photo of the eggs at Day 3 – they start to hatch at Day 21 so stay tuned because we will put some more photos up later.

Have you ever hatched eggs?

2012 Jnr School Council Elections

Last week we had a visit from Mr Terry Holmes from the Australian Electoral Commission. He helped us complete our voting to elect our jar school councillors for 2012. We voted in private using proper ballot papers that our parents use. Here are the councillors for 2012:
